What Is the SAT?
The SAT is a standardized test administered by the College Board and is considered as part of the university admissions process by institutions in the United States and many other countries.
Administered in a digital format, the SAT is designed to assess students’ reading comprehension, effective use of language, analytical thinking, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving skills. SAT scores may be used for university applications as well as for certain scholarship programs. Whether the SAT is required depends on the admissions policy of each university.
The Digital SAT consists of two sections:
Reading and Writing
Math
Each section is scored on a scale of 200–800. The total SAT score ranges from 400 to 1600, with 1600 being the highest possible score.
